ALUMNI PLAYBACK 2013: First Ever Sports Reunion

The First ever sports reunion dubbed OTL (Old Team Legon)- Alumni Playback 2013 was hosted on the University of Ghana Campus on the 27th April 2013. The Playback Game was initiated by Isaac Ebo-Newton who outlined the importance of alumni sportsmen and women having a sports reunion. This reunion gives the chance to Alumni to have a feel of being part of sporting activities once more in the many disciplines they so very much enjoy.
The OTL Game in its first edition involved athletics, badminton, basketball, goal ball, handball, health walk, hockey, soccer, table tennis, tennis and volleyball as well as talks involving selected past and present sports personalities of the University of Ghana.
The main objectives for the Alumni Playback are the opportunity to meet old colleagues and sharing fond
moments again. It was also an opportunity for networking and sharing of experience with students in the current university teams. This platform encourages students who are active in sport to be more committed in their disciplines to complement the national sports teams. One of the major projects of the Alumni Playback is to set up a foundation for Student Athletes; scholarships to support brilliant but needy sports men and women, create Alumni National team and possible Olympian Database.
The 27th April started with a walk and aerobics at the athletics oval and handball court. They were soon followed by basketball, goalball, handball, volleyball and soccer. The last event of the day was athletics and it was amazing to see the likes of Bawa Fuseini, Current Secretary, Ghana Athletics Association still in running along the likes of current school team member Malik Ibrahim. The day was well spent and full of joy as both Current Team Legon and Old Team Legon competed against each other.

Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, Director of Sports of the University of Ghana in a short statement expressed his delight at the OTL- Alumni Playback Games. He also assured his support to both teams as they faced each other in the various selected disciplines.
