Soccer: UG vrs Alumni!!!

In preparations towards the upcoming GUSA Games, the soccer coach has so far involved his players in three trial matches. The first was against a second division team from Madina and the second from East Legon known as East Legon United. Team Legon won both matches but the most anticipated match was against the UG Alumni.

The Alumni team was made up of a strong squad with the likes of MTN Football Academy Star Bismark Amponsah, Abiola the great, Honourable defender Doe Abega, Former Sarbah Hall captain Henry, Former Legon Hall sports secretary Georges Jarrah, Emmanuel Akoto-Abbey and a full panoply of many stars who had once made the colors of UG shine in soccer to the brightest. To top it all, they called in Coach Prince, the former UG Soccer coach to handle the alumni team. This friendly match was one which Sly would have love to play had he been present.

The Alumni team displayed a lot of quality and proved to their juniors that they still had the necessary juice to produce quality game. During the first half, both sides demonstrated good quality football and ended in a 1-1 draw. During the second half, the Alumni team finally bowed down to UG who added another goal.
The UG soccer has so far played and won three friendly matches. With this current run, the UG Soccer team seems poised to achieve the ultimate in Kumasi come GUSA (3rd-13th January 2012).
