he University of
the Ghana rugby team this weekend will make her second appearance in the
national rugby union league set to kick
off this Saturday 13th April. The university in her maiden
appearance clinched the second position and will be hoping to grab the much
coveted trophy and all the accolades that come with it this time round.
The team is made
up of a twenty three-man squad with national team coach; Julius Amevor as its
head coach.

The team plays her
first match on Saturday at 830hrs against Accra Sharks at the Athletic oval (UG
Campus) and has promised a convincing victory over her opponents.
The team has
been training since the beginning of the semester and has managed to have two
test matches against Idas rugby club which they won. The team can also boast of
an arsenal of national team players like Emmanuel Kalos, Theophilus Opai, Marshall
Nortey, Jonas Adjiri and Prince Segbefia who will all feature in this match.
This year’s
league which is focused on developing rugby 15’s as compared to the usual 7’s.
It will feature 4 teams with the first team taking a cash price of 1500 Ghana
cedis and the first and second runners-up taking 1000 and 500 Ghana cedis
respectively.
