BILD GHANA HOLDS SYMPOSIUM

The Beckwith International Leadership Development program held a major Symposium from the 13-18 February 2013. BILD Ghana in collaboration with UK Sport International and the University of Ghana Sports Directorate held a reflective practitioners forum at the University of Ghana. Taking part in this forum where high profile delegates from various part of the world such as Jamaica, St Lucia, India, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique, Ghana and UK. During the symposium, delegates discussed the role of Sport in the development of countries. The BILD model was closely studied as a pinpoint factor of success in Ghana and its role in achieving developmental goals. Delegates from St Lucia and Jamaica also noted how important it was for the youngsters of today to understand their role as future society leaders and role leaders.

The Forum was also another opportunity for BILD Ghana Master Trainers to also come together and work with the Young Leaders so as to display leadership skills. They also had the platform to exchange ideas with the ICES (International Community Coach Education System) group on various model and strategies to implement sport development programs.

BILD Young Leaders also displayed their quality training when they organized an excellent Festival for young children also known as Little Leaders. The festival was another opportunity for delegates to experience the cross cultural diversity message, the organization skills, the fun and the joy of both Young leaders and Little leaders as they achieve a learning process whiles having fun.

The BILD Country Director, Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah was the chair of the BILD Symposium and was supported by Debbie Lye (Director of UK Sport International), John David Steele (Youth Sports Trust, UK), Dr. Anita White (Anita White Foundation). The Symposium facilitators were Clare Barrell (International Development Officer, UK Sport), Priya Samuel (ICES Facilitator, International Sport Development Manager) Viv Holt (BILD Lead trainer), Anna Young (BILD Lead Trainer) and Derrick Charway (BILD Ghana National Coordinator).
