As part of the University of Ghana Homecoming program, the UG school team played a handball friendly match against their alumni team. Both the men and women's teams came together to have fun and interact.
The first match was played by the Men followed by the ladies. The alumni team was made up of Rahman, Charway, Charles Quartey, Pamplo, Philip, Kobby Asare, Mawuko Bernard, Gideon Osibo Ampomah, Sarkodie Gyamfi, Daniel Opare, Konan Prince Okine and a japanese international Yutse. The UG team was made up of Richard Hoyah, Hafiz Haruna, Eugene Ashong, Agyenim Boateng and many more. The match displayed experience against stamina and ended in a draw 23-23.
During the ladies match, even though the alumni team was made up of exactly 6 field players and a borrowed keeper from the current school team players, the alumni team displayed all their WAUG and GUSA experience by defeating the UG team 18-15. The alumni team was made up of Shyne, Dzidzo, bridget, Dorcas, Anita and Franca who proved to be more than a volleyball player.
After the game both parties ended up at the swimming pool for some relaxation and disciplined the music aired by the live band on display that evening.
This event displayed the strong bond that exist between former UG handball players and the school. This friendly is definitely not the last as there is more to come.
The students have now started their exams after which they will start preparing for the GUSA Games in KUNST (Kumasi). We can only wish them kudos and all the best in their endeavours.
