The IDEALS project manager, Clare Barrell arrived in Ghana on Sunday, 24th October, 2011. She then met the staff of UG Sports Directorate on Monday, 25th October to discuss issues concerning the IDEALS project and other projects UK Sports would like to have with the UG Sports Directorate.The International Development Through Excellence and Leadership in Sports (IDEALS) is an initiative which aims to establish a high quality progressive and coordinated sports leadership development exchange programme between the United Kingdom and partner countries. IDEALS which was started in January 2006 has, since then grown and expanded. IDEALS now operates in Zambia, Namibia and Tanzania with Ghana being its newest addition.
The Beckwith International Leadership Development Programme (BILD) which was officially launched in Ghana in August 2010, is an organisation which aims at developing the leadership skills and qualities of the youth across Ghana through sports.
The core aim of the IDEALS programme is to work in partnership with the University of Ghana Sports Directorate in order to assist BILD teams in the delivery of its programmes while enhancing the global awareness and leadership skills of the IDEALS students.
