During his days as a Diploma student, he took part in the Handball/Volleyball West African University Games held in Cape Coast in December 2008. He also took part in GUSA games (Ghana University Sports Association) later in June 2009. Having gained enough experience, he went ahead to be part of the Greater Accra Regional Team that took part in the National Unity Games in July 2011.
After completing his Diploma studies in 2010, he then left for the Northern Region for his national service. Far away from the handball circle one would have believed that he would have lost interest in the game. But soon after gaining admission into the Degree program to read Business Administration in August 2011, he was on his way to Kumasi to represent UG at the GUSA Games once more in January 2012. He was also a member of the Handball team that won Silver at the West African University Games (WAUG) hosted in Ilorin (Nigeria) in March 2012. With enough experience on his young shoulders, the UG team won Gold. At the end of the 2011/2012 Academic year he was appointed the general school team captain for Handball. He then went ahead to captain the UG Handball Team to yet another successful bilateral game both in Ibadan and Accra in October 2012 and March 2013.
Having developed fast reflexes from being involved in the game for the past 4 years, he is also the main keeper for Greater Accra League Team Club International. An active member of the greater Accra Handball League, his love for new challenges drove him to adhere to the beach handball fraternity where he is excelling and ended up in the national team. He was part of a 9 man squad that traveled to Lome to win the 2nd Edition of the Beach Handball Tournament hosted from 21-25 August 2013.
Agya is a handball goalkeeper of class. His goalkeeping abilities are of high standard. He is also good at initiating quick turnovers and played a major role during the penalty shootouts against Togo in the Beach Handball Finals. The University of Ghana is proud to have such a high profiled player and will be counting on him again during GUSA (Ghana Universities Sports Association) Games scheduled for 8-18 January 2014 in Cape Coast.
