The International Students Hostel popularly known as ISH is making the headlines in the University of Ghana Soccer League. The Hostel, which is made up of Ghanaian and international students is a perfect example of cross-cultural diversity and understanding in the University of Ghana.
The Team had their first experience at inter-hall games only last academic year and encountered some serious challenges in terms of equipment, training schedules and effective player management. But it all looks like history as we have so far seen a very different ISH Team which is well organised and much more better to make a name for themselves in this year's soccer league. The Soccer Team, strongly supported by their Manager popularly know as "Auntie Mercy" and headed by an able-bodied student cum coach "Nana Kwasi Ohene" has managed to find a spot in the first three teams on the soccer table.
Nana Kwasi, who took part in the last year's soccer league games came out with a very good strategy to help his team win games and get a good standing this year. He makes it a point to watch and note down weaknesses and strengths of his opponents and comes back from the drawing board with a perfect formation to counter the opposing team.
During his two previous games against Mensah Sarbah and Akuafo Halls, he always managed to come from behind to snatch a very important draw from the traditional teams that are considered the "Titans" in the soccer league.
The ISH team proceeds by counter-attacks on many occasions and both Akuafo and Sarbah Halls can attest to that. ISH is proving all critics wrong and is in top flight at the moment. With 7 more matches to go we shall only hope that they maintain a spot in the top three.
Kudos to ISH!!!
