Coronation of Success: Sports Dinner and Awards Night!!!

The much anticipated awards night is finally here. It has been scheduled for Thursday 24th May 2012 at 6PM. The Sports Dinner and Awards night comes as a joy to all sportsmen and women as it rewards them for their fruitful efforts through out the entire academic year.

The 2011/2012 academic year has been a very busy one in terms of sporting activities. It all started with the inter-halls games which saw some new innovations such as the Basketball and Soccer league. These leagues involved all the 12 halls ( Akuafo, Mensah Sarbah, Legon, Volta, Commonwealth, Pentagon, Bany/Evandy/Tf, Jubilee/ISH, Hilla Limann, Alexander Kwapong, Jean Aka Nelson and Elisabeth Sey Francis) thus giving the chance to the coaches to unearth new talents.

The leagues were followed by Bilateral Games and camping for GUSA in December. During the second semester, Team UG took part in various tournament as follows:

• GUSA Games in Kumasi
• Bilateral Games in Ibadan, Nigeria
• WAUG Games in Ilorin, Nigeria
• Rugby Seven aside Tournament in Casablanca, Morocco  

With such a full agenda for an academic year, it is only normal that our noble sportsmen and women be rewarded for their undying love for sports at the university level.

The introduction of sports for academic credit also comes in to support Team UG in the Directorate's bid to motivate sportsmen and women so as to reach the sky.

With the VC Prof. Ernest Aryeetey in attendance at this important function, awards will be given in categories as follows:

• BEST HALL SPORTS SECRETARY
• MOST DEDICATED SPORTS PERSON OF THE YEAR
• MOST DISCIPLINED SPORTS PERSON
• SPORTS WOMAN OF THE YEAR
• SPORTS MAN OF THE YEAR
• BEST SCHOOL TEAM CAPTAIN
• MOST PROMISING ATHLETES OF THE YEAR (MALE/FEMALE)
• TEAM OF THE YEAR
• FOREIGN/INTERNATIONAL STUDENT OF THE YEAR
• DISCOVERY OF THE YEAR
• HALL OF THE YEAR
