International Inspirations [II] aims at delivering the 2012 Olympic Games bid promise to 'reach young people all over the world and connect them to the inspirational power of the Games, so they are inspired by sports. Working in countries all over the world, International Inspirations aims at using sports as a positive tool to enrich the lives of over 12 million young people.
The programme is a direct result of the pledge made by Seb Coe when London won the bid for the 2012 Games – to 'reach young people all around the world and connect them to the inspirational power of the Games so they are inspired to choose sports ... improving their lives as a result.
In Ghana, International Inspirations has been working with The British Council, UNICEF, The UG Sports Directorate and BILD GHANA (Beckwith International Leadership Development programme) to make this pledge a success.
With their support, schools from various regions (Greater Accra Region, Ashanti Region, Central Region and the Northern Region) have been selected to take part in the BILD-II programme. Some of the schools involved in the programme made a presentation at the British Council on 18th November, 2011. The BILD-II Young leaders were from some of the selected II schools such as Accra Girls Secondary School, Labone Secondary School and Holy Trinity Secondary School. Other shcools involved are: St Louis Senior High School, Kumasi Academy Senior High School, Bole Senior High School, Tamale Senior High School, Apam Senior High School, Swedru Senior High School and Mfantsiman Senior High School.
With the will to empower the young to lead through sport, BILD-II has come to stay in Ghana and the UG Sports Directorate will continue to give its maximum support for the success of the project.
